The IOM Control is a high-end passive pre-amplifier, matching our IOM 500 Stereo and IOM 500 Mono’s.
We did quit a lot of research and attempts to come to the selected set-up & components. Looking back to this journey the statement less is more is fitting this pre-amplifier well.
The volume control unit is a superb 24-position stereo or quad (for the XLR version) attenuator with gold-plated contacts switching between 1/4W carbon resistors.
The power supply is external/non-integrated to prevent any interference. This power supply is only powering the ESP & stepper (and so zero importance on the sound quality).
Enough about the details, how does it sound? Neutral. Adding nothing. Very transparent. So it is a perfect match to our flagship 500 Stereo & 500 Mono.

After purchasing the 500s, I indicated, in my review, looking for a matching pre-amplifier. Well, it is here, the IOM Control.
Purchased a full balanced version from IOM.
Long story short; What an improvement, didn’t imagine this could be achieved with a passive pre-amplifier.
